Dixie Packaging, located on Dixie Springs Road north of Summit, opened its doors in September of 1994. The company was started by Barry Hart, Jerry Robison, Kent Welch, and Tommy Hart after they had all worked several years in the plastic industry. The expertise they had developed and the willingness to branch out on their own, led them to start their own manufacturing plant of polyethylene bags and film. In the beginning, Dixie Packaging started with fifteen full-time employees. It has grown into a thriving small business that currently employs well over forty employees.
In 2017, the President of the company Barry Hart passed away. His wife, June and son, Jamie proudly run the company and continue to carry on many of the characteristics Barry extended to all of his employees and customers…. Integrity, Honesty, and Loyalty. The remaining original co-owners have now all retired and the legacy they leave will always be appreciated.
Dixie Packaging continues to deliver what it originally set out to deliver: great products, great customer service, and very competitive prices.
Jamie, president and CEO, loves to reminisce about the many things his dad taught him. Jamie worked for his dad at Dixie for twenty one years before Barry’s passing. Jamie now has over twenty five years of experience in the plastic industry and has covered most jobs throughout the plant. When there is a question concerning what to do at Dixie Packaging, Jamie would have this to say, “that’s the right thing to do and that’s exactly the way my dad would do it”.
